Often, many people are surprised to hear that the cost of living in Nairobi, Kenya rivals the cost of living in the U.S. Since the 1970's, Kenya's economy has blossomed and grown substantially. However, most of the wealth belongs to a very small percentage of people. It is estimated that over 50% of the population lives in extreme poverty. Corruption in the government is rampant. Social change is desperately needed. Education and job training is the only way to overcome this trend. There are many ways that you can help Light Christian Ministries - Nairobi. - Donate money. Funds are desperately needed to purchase land, pay rent, provide food to children and to run our day to day programs.
- Donate school supplies. Our dream is to have a partial container of school supplies be delivered quarterly to Light Christian Education Centre. School supplies are scarce and rarely available to the children. Some children do not even have their own pencil. PTA's and home schoolers could join together for school supply drives (all the school supplies that go home at the end of the year. Even used crayons are appreciated).
- Plan a backpack drive for Light Christian Education Centre. Fill the backpacks for school supplies for each child. Current enrollment is between 225 - 250 students.
- Plan a fundraiser. Videos and other material can be provided to those who would like to join us in raising funds for this vibrant African ministry.
- Adopt a cause. Many times, big job broken down are much easier to accomplish. Adopt one of the causes/needs that speaks to your heart.
- Donate used musical instruments, guitars, amplifiers, microphones etc to the church.
